tvN launched their Friday night time slot with the mega-hit Reply 1994 and the succeeding drama Emergency Couple has proven that if a show is interesting enough, people will stay home on Friday and Saturday evenings. But what if the drama is about a serial killer and not a love triangle?
According to AsianWiki, Gap Dong is about:
20 years ago Moo-Yeom’s (Yoon Sang-Hyun) father was a suspect in the “Gap Dong” serial murder case. Because of the detectives’ oppressive investigation, Moo-Yeom’s father killed himself.
Now, Moo-Yeom is a detective and works to capture the killer Gap Dong. The statue of limitations has expired for the serial murder case and Moo-Yeom resigns to the belief that Gap Dong is dead. New clues though for Gap Dong appears in front of Moo-Yeom and he sets out to catch him once and for all.
Hmm… so let me see. Instead of trying to decide if I want Jin Hee with Dr. Gook or Chang Min, I’ll be spending my nights trying not to have nightmares about a psycho killer?
Here are the teasers:
Detective Ha Moo Yeom
Chief Detective Yang Chul Gon
Ryu Tae Oh
Ma Ji Wool
It’s directed by Jo Soo Won of I Hear Your Voice fame which can’t be a bad thing. I’m all about the detective show on American television but my favorite feature is that the criminal gets caught at the end of each episode. In fact, I feel pretty uncomfortable with those multiple-season arcs that don’t get resolved till the final season. I suppose this will lie somewhere in the middle because the criminal will be caught in twenty episodes. I just hope we have mini-arcs and cases that keep things interesting throughout the series.
I’ve fangirled Yoon Sang Hyun since Secret Garden and enjoyed Sung Dong Il in the Reply series. The cast and premise are enough to get me to check this show out when it premieres on April 11th. How good it will be remains to be seen.
