Indonesian Drama Faces Accusations Of Plagiarising “You Who Came From The Stars”

The producers of Indonesian series Kau Yang Berasal Dari Bintang aren’t having a good week. Shortly after the first episode aired on April 28th, there’s been a lot of news about the strong similarities between their drama and SBS hit You Who Came From The Stars.

Now SBS has gotten in on the action and not only stated that the rights weren’t acquired by this production, but that they are in talks with another Indonesian company about selling those rights.

Oftentimes, I hear a song in a drama or movie and wonder if the rights were properly acquired but blatantly ripping off a widely popular series in this internet age takes a lot of balls. Of course, after saying this, I remember that this is nothing new because I’ve come across quite a few remakes (usually of movies) that I am pretty sure were done without permission.

Check out the first episode (which can be found on YouTube) to see if, in your opinion, the accusations have merit.

I just watched the first 10 minutes of the Indonesian drama, but SBS should really press charges. It’s terrible how they ripped off from “You who came from the stars” scene to scene. Even if they stole the storyline, they should have tweaked the scenes instead of blatantly copying the Korean version.:(

What da …. ??? I don’t wanna be offensive so i’ll stick to my manners but seriously , this is nothing but trying to copy & paste an article . I watched a couple of scenes , and i have to say , the acting is really weird , or mayba i am reluctant to the whole idea and What’s up with the 90s background Ost , it’s really old fashioned . In a nutshell , My love from another star stole the lights with its appealing idea , and more like the fashion and style in the whole drama alongside with Jun ji hyun and Kim soo hyun’s amazing acting , i never felt anything in this indonesian copy !! P.S : I had to watch a couple of scenes from my love from another star , to erase this unbeloved Coincedence 😀

I’m an Indonesian..and it doesn’t surprise me about the plagiarism.. I do feel embarrass of Indonesian producer who always produce a remake without any permission… so sad but that’s the reality we face here in Indonesia. I really agree for SBS to take action..
