The first teaser for the Park Shin Hye – Kim Rae Won drama has been released!
I’m sure I’ve previously mentioned that Kim Rae Won was my first Kdrama oppa/crush so he will always hold a special place in my heart. And since Park Shin Hye is cool with me, there’s no way I can ignore this drama.
Synopsis from Wikipedia:
Yoo Hye-jeong (Park Shin-hye) was a tough bully in school with a prickly personality and always goes wayward. She had many scars from her childhood and through self-preservation, Hye-jung keeps her heart shut away from other people. However, she changes after meeting her mentor Hong Ji-hong (Kim Rae-won), who plays a key role in transforming her life from a helpless gangster to a compassionate doctor.
Sounds interesting enough. Will it be like a J-drama where the focus will be on this transformation or will it be makjang-y with love triangles? The drama has the potential to be thought-provoking if done well as we’ll be following the journey of someone who hurt people becoming one who helps them instead. And kudos if they give us a very cliché scene where she saves the life of an enemy.
Here’s the teaser (click on “cc”):
It’s nice to see Park Shin Hye try something different from her usual “innocent girl” role. But I can already tell you that I don’t like how this tough fighter got overpowered by some doctor. It had better turn out that he’s fighter too.
The drama is written by Ha Myung Hee (High Society) and directed by Oh Choong Hwan who was an assistant director on My Love from the Stars.
I’ve haven’t seen any of the writer’s work and I think this is the director’s first job as PD so I’m keeping expectations low. It does, however, reunite Park Shin Hye with Pinocchio co-star Yoon Kyun Sang which I can only put in the plus category.
The first episode airs on June 20th on SBS.
